Our team partnered with Google to explore the digital habits and productivity tools of Gen Z, aiming to provide insights into how this generation navigates the evolving landscape of technology. The project focused on how Gen Z interacts with productivity suites like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Zoom, highlighting their preferences, challenges, and expectations for seamless and authentic digital experiences.

Using surveys, focus groups, and interviews, we analyzed Gen Z’s approach to the information age, the impact of the pandemic on digital engagement, and their complex relationship with AI. Our goal was to identify opportunities for Google to enhance its tools to better align with Gen Z’s need for intuitive, connected, and efficient workflows.

As part of the motion team, I created the intro and vision videos to visually translate our research findings, delivering compelling narratives that brought our insights to life and effectively communicated the project’s goals.

Figma

Figma

Throughout the project, we used Figma as our main platform to communicate visual language, share assets, and conduct research. Given the virtual nature of the project, we stayed highly engaged through Google Meet and Google Chat, ensuring smooth collaboration across all teams.

The Design Strategy team provided the visual direction, and as part of the motion team, we developed references and mood boards that aligned with their vision. Using the Story Team's script and voiceover, we broke down the content into scenes and style frames, and worked collaboratively to bring these narratives to life. Despite a tight one-week timeline to complete both the Intro and Vision videos, we managed to effectively deliver the visuals that represented our research and insights.

With my other Motion Design teammate, we gathered the assets from the Visual team and created rough storyboard and ideas below each sentences of the script.

Google workspace

With working with Google. we were highly engaged using Google workspace products for this project. This allowed us to gain deeper insights into the tools’ functionality, collaboration features, and overall user experience, enhancing our ability to align our project goals with real-world applications.

Google Doc:

Google Doc was used for creating script for the presentation and writing down the survey questions.

With our work with Google, I faced the challenge of creating two videos within a very short timeframe while also working in 2D, which pushed me out of my comfort zone. However, I learned to quickly adapt to new techniques, prioritize tasks effectively, and collaborate efficiently with my team to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. This experience not only improved my technical skills but also enhanced my ability to manage time and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
